If the ChatGPT Windows app opens but stays stuck on the loading screen, even after restarting or reinstalling it, this workaround may help.

I experienced the same problem and found that ChatGPT was opening, but part of the app responsible for loading the interface wasn't starting correctly. Restarting that part of the application allowed ChatGPT to load normally again.

To make the fix easier, I've created a small Windows launcher that performs the workaround automatically.

This fix is intended for users experiencing the following:

ChatGPT opens on Windows.
The loading spinner doesn't disappear.
Closing and reopening ChatGPT doesn't help.
Reinstalling or resetting the app hasn't fixed it.

If ChatGPT isn't opening at all, or you're experiencing a different error message, this fix may not apply.

You need both files. Keep both downloaded files in the same folder.

This is the file you'll use to launch the fix.

Download PowerShell file

Save anything you are typing in ChatGPT or Codex before running the launcher.

How to Use It

Follow these steps:

Download both files.
Create a folder called ChatGPT Fix.
Move both downloaded files into that folder.
Save anything you're currently typing in ChatGPT or Codex.
Double-click ChatGPT Fixed.bat.
Allow a few moments for ChatGPT to restart and load.

You can also create a shortcut to ChatGPT Fixed.bat on your desktop and use that to open ChatGPT while you're experiencing the problem.

Is It Safe?

The workaround doesn't delete your ChatGPT conversations, account details, application settings or local databases. It closes the existing ChatGPT/Codex desktop session, starts a fresh one and restarts the part of the application that failed to load correctly in my testing.

Because the script restarts ChatGPT, make sure you've saved any text you haven't sent before running it.

It worked consistently for the particular ChatGPT Windows loading problem I encountered, but there are other reasons why ChatGPT may become stuck loading. If this fix doesn't resolve your problem, further troubleshooting may be required.
